Pretty huge collaboration for the holidays, even though it's technically a cover of an older Mariah Carey song from 2010.

I just noticed that "Blinding Lights" is still in the top 10 of the Billboard as of January 2021 even though the song came out way back in November 2019. Has it gone so bad that a retro song needs to be locked in the top 10 for more than a year? The charts are just so safe and static lately. Ugghh

Ugghh Streaming is making the music charts so slow in the last few years. Prior to that, the charts was fast pace. I agree with you that this song and others songs should go by now.

Ugghh The United States in particular has a habit of songs lasting longer on the charts due to radio airplay having a greater influence on chart placings, but this is just ridiculous. I don't understand why nothing has been done to change the way that the charts are calculated. Billboard themselves have even acknowledged that the current system is flawed, and yet, we still continue to see songs that spend 30+ weeks within the Top-40. Speaking of the charts being static, have any of the big names in music released new singles since the start of this year? I remember Justin Bieber released "Yummy" pretty early on in 2020, but I haven't come across any new single releases so far this year.

I don't understand why this song has become such a huge hit over the past few days. There's nothing original about this, yet with the rave reviews it has been receiving, you would think that it's a Nevermind moment. It isn't actually bad per se, but the alt-pop sound is so long in the tooth. Can we please just leave this style behind in the 2010s?

It's ok, but bedroom pop can do better.

It’s not 2016 anymore. I want someone more upbeat. Something that sounds new. When will people realize that the current musical charts are stagnating? I mean, sooner or later, people are going to want something new.
