What three year gap do you guys think had the biggest difference? IMO 2007-2010 is pretty big.

2012-2015 2017-2020 1989-1992 2008-2011 I don’t think 2012-2015 was a big gap. 2015 IMO actually has a lot more in common with 2012 than it does with 2018. And despite the pandemic, I don’t think 2017-2020 was that big of a gap either.

Here's some obvious pre-1980 ones:
1900 and 1903
1918 and 1921
1944 and 1947
1962 and 1965

What three year gap do you guys think had the biggest difference? IMO 2007-2010 is pretty big. Pop Culturally: Very different for a number of reasons. Socially/Politically/Economy: A pretty drastic change there. Technology: Not really tbh as 2007 was already going in 2010's direction. 2004 to 2007 was a huge jump for tech but, the problem there, is that 2004 and 2007 were quite similar in everything else apart from technology.

1973 and 1976 1978 and 1981 1991 and 1994 (debatable) 2002 and 2005 (I know many will disagree, but those years felt nothing alike.) 1991 and 1994, I actually agree with. 1994 is the earliest year that can possibly pass for today (when there's no technology present of course) but, 1991 is a different story.

End of the Gilded age as William McKinley was assassinated and Theodore Roosevelt becomes the new president (this ushers in the Progressive era). The terrible living and working conditions for the working class is truly exposed for the first time (along with the child labor). Queen Victoria dies, ending the Victorian era. A lot of fashion associated with the Victorian era phases out. The true rise of Nickelodeons in most places (before the early 1900s it was mostly just a thing in Europe). The Brownie Camera makes personal cameras affordable/popular. The first gas car comes out in 1901 and very soon after, cars start to gradually overtake horse & carriage (hitting a 50/50 point in 1908). The Wright Brothers invent flight (this gets a huge amount of exposure and throughout the 1900s & 1910s, air travel advances very quickly). There's a lot more points that I can still bring up too. Overall, the 1900s and 1910s as a whole were two decades full of drastic change.

1991 and 1994, I actually agree with. 1994 is the earliest year that can possibly pass for today (when there's no technology present of course) but, 1991 is a different story. I’m with you on that. 1991 had lingering late 1980s pop culture prevalent that a picture or a person from then would stick out like a sore thumb today. 1994 was almost or completely devoid of any late 1980s influences. I’m glad u agree with that one. I recently saw this clip from that Michael Jordan documentary and it surprised me that the clip was shot in 1997, it could honestly pass for like 2014. I have a series of pictures from a trip I took with my family in 2006 and they could easily pass for today. Meanwhile, my dad has picture from a trip he took in 1986 and they look instantly dated (even in 2006, they looked very dated).

They’re culturally closer to the 2000s and the 21st century than to the 1980s and the 20th century, fashion, music, TV, movies and maybe gaming wise. For movies, documentaries and TV episodes from the 1990s to present, I have to look at the technology to tell what time it’s from or if the video is grainy, otherwise I have a hard time guessing. The 1980s looked outdated with their hair, TV, movies, fashion and music in the 2000s, maybe sometime in the mid to late 1990s. I’d go as far as saying that by the late 1990s and early 2000s, the 1980s became retro. Now it’s another universe.

I agree with that, I would pinpoint 1994 to when the 90s became more like the 21st century. I feel like the early 90s is the last period of time that looks very dated without the presence of technology. When Vice City came out in 2002, 1986 (the year that it's set) already felt very retro, in a way that 2005 doesn't today.
