No. Bedroom pop and Billie Eilish are still too big. Olivia Rodriguez as well. I do think or at least hope music starts to move forward over the next few years. I think the lack of concerts and nightlife have really contributed to this era of musical stagnation. Yeah Olivia Rodriguez song Driver’s License sounds straight out of 2016/2017. While we are getting hints of a new era emerging, so much music being released now still sounds like it can come out from the late 2010s. Have you forgotten about her latest hit song?

Deja Vu also is getting a lot of airplay and it sounds just like Driver's License. As the pandemic comes to an end I really hope there is a backlash against bedroom pop.

In 2018 on the crappy other decade forum I made about 6 threads talking about how pop punk is coming back in 2 1/2 years, and will take a bit but it will be everywhere.

I truly hope 9th gen gaming gets underway by late 2021 or early 2022 at the latest. We're pretty much stuck in a rut in the gaming world since COVID broke out and the premier consoles like PS5 and Series S/X are STILL out of stock as of now (damn scalpers). The gaming scene right now is relatively quiet as opposed to 2020 (besides a few games like Resident Evil: Village).

The Timbaland start creeping in 2023, before exploding in 2024 when the late 2000s are more romanticized. 2006 will turn 18 years old in 2024. It would be interesting to see the Timbaland sound influence rock along with other music genres, but it will most likely influence rap and R&B music. The Timbaland sound will come back, with a unique 2020s twist, maybe a dash of skater, scene, emo or goth thrown in there. TikTok will probably pivot this movement. TikTok might unfortunately be the leader in music and fashion trends during the 2020s.

You are right that the song is a classic. Social media is speeding up revivals and reboots. For example, TV shows that got cancelled in the early 2010s are brought back in the late 2010s and now. I get reviving shows that got cancelled 2 decades ago and more, but bringing back shows that got cancelled a year to a decade ago is ridiculous. I also feel we are rushing through the 20s really fast. In a little over 3 weeks we will enter the second half of 2021. 2021 is flying quicker than 2020. 2019 also flew quicker than 2020. I do not want to think about fall 2021, let alone 2025 lol. I along with you and maybe some members on this board are excited about what the future holds. More people in 1999 were excited about the 2000s than people are about the 2020s.

Was 1991 the last year with 80s influence? I hear 1992 was, maybe at a stretch 1993. So many things that defined the 80s died in late 91, it'd be lovely if the same happened in 2021... I really hope theres like a huge shift later this year, hopefully it's not a bad thing. I do think covid kinda ended the 2010s in a way...
