I think yes because there are very few late '10s influences left. Most of the stuff that's popular now became popular in 2019 which was already the early '20s culturally. There's very few things from 2018 which was the late '10s that are popular now except for trap music still being around. So I think 2021 will be the final year of late '10s holdovers and trap will die this year. Then 2022 will have exclusive 2020s stuff and the first year of the core 2020s. I really hope trap dies this year, but I don't see it happening. Care to elaborate what makes you think trap is going to die this early

Fall 2021 will begin the cultural early 2020s. 2022 will be a stimulus package or update of fall 2021, basically an extension, continuation and progression of these changes. 2022 or 2023 will likely be the last year with late 2010s influences. 2023 or 2024 will have exclusive 2020s stuff. I definitely do think 2013 was the last year with l8 00s influences. so 2023 is going to be the last year with l8 10s influences. I'm very excited but also sad because I will miss the 10s!

I agree about 2013, though late 2000s influences were dying as 2013 progressed. 2010s nostalgia will likely come back in the very late 2020s or 2030s. Enjoy what you can of late 2010s influences before they disappear come 2024. In 2021, the 2020s identity now is developing and becoming their own which will continue through 2023 at the most aka early 2020s. By 2024 will be core 2020s vision aka full blown 2020s culture when the late 2010s become dated.

Interesting, why do you think so? I don't disagree I just want to hear why. In 2017 America went from a Democrat president (Obama) to a Republican president (Trump). Trump destroyed America in the late 2010s. Dark trap blew up in popularity in 2017. 2010s aesthetics are still going strong. In 2021, America went from a Republican president (Obama) to a Democrat president (Biden). Biden is trying to rebuild America in the early 2020s. 2010s aesthetics are facing backlash and giving way to 2020s aesthetics. Dark trap is backlashed against and trap changes to a more upbeat sound.

I don't think trap will die this year. I think it will last until 2023 or 2024, it only began charting in 2015 and I'd say it peaked in 2019 or 2020. Brooklyn Drill will probably last throughout the 2020s since it only got popular in 2019.

Btw, do you people think the 2010s are dying faster than other decades? I think they are. Signs of 2010s death came as early as 2019 with 2010s franchises ending, TikTok, AirPods, Bilie Eilish all blowing up. Some can argue 2017 or 2018 when Trump became president, Gen Z culture blew up and some long running 2010s shows began to end. 2021 has accelerated 2010s death with Joe Biden’s inauguration, more 2010s shows ending, 2010s facing backlash and 2020s becoming more prominent.

Sounds nothing like it did in 2017.

I'd say the Trump era is safely 2010s culture, in fact, i believe it's one of the things people will associate the most with the 10s

It's become very stale, with almost every song being slow, auto-tuned mumble rap with a lo-fi backtrack or some kind of homage to an early 2000s hip-hop hit. I really think all the genre needs is one new artist to really shake things up and send the genre in a new direction. People were predicting the imminent end of trap in 2017 though and it's now four years later and it's still going strong.
