It seems like in my opinion 2022 will not only be the start of the core 2020s but I think it will also be the year that starts to really erase late 2010s influences and by like march or may of 2022 I can feel it being a whole new atmosphere!!

How are we supposed to know? We are barely even removed from the late 2010’s.

I would say late 2010s influence will still be visible by even 2023.

I think 2022 will still have 2010s influence but just barely. The “2” years are usually the last years in the decade to have noticeable influence from the previous decade. 2023 may have some late 10s hangovers (like 1993 and 2003 for the 80s and 90s respectively) but we should be in the core 20s and those influences probably won’t be that noticeable

I personally think as of right now the transition is like 75% finished, which will become more apparent in the Fall, with maybe that last 25% of late 10s culture going away by the start of 2023. To be honest, it's hard to say as while we are well into the transition, it's not quite over. I do think 2021 is already very early 20s, though.
Problem is people here are comparing today to like, late 2019 (when things first started going in an early 20s direction with Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish) rather than 2017-18, the actual peak of the Late 10s. VERY different from now.
Rap music changed a lot since then (compare RAPSTAR or Whoopty to anything from 2017), and EDM has been replaced by synthpop and disco revival as the dominant dance music. Then there's the pop punk revival. TikTok didn't even exist until late 2018 and it's a huge force in early 20s pop culture. There's a new president, XBOX and PS5, etc. And this is not even mentioning COVID-19 because some people here like to act like it had 0 impact.
I can't see how people still think we aren't removed from the late 10s.

We’re clearly removed from the late 10s for the most part at this point and it will become only even more apparent this fall. Covid alone was enough to bring us into the early 20s imo as well, and with everything you just explained it should be clear we’re in the early 20s, although maybe not the peak yet

Exactly. I think that 2022 will be the first fully cultural early 20s year with everything going on. Just like 2002 was the first fully culturally early 2000s year from beginning to end. I think 2022 is too early for the core 2020s to start. I do not think we will enter it at the earliest 2023 and at the latest 2024. I can do a thread about mid 2020s but I won't because I might be called crazy but then when it happens applauded lol It would be super rough if I did one since it is so far ahead but I have a rough idea of what to expect in fashion & music and society. Still it's to far ahead in the pipeline to actually make it 100% accurate.

Still it's to far ahead in the pipeline to actually make it 100% accurate. Just like in 2018 you were called crazy and so the cycle repeats lmao. Scene will creep in 2022 like you said earlier in this thread. I can see it happening, so I don’t say you’re far off. I’m thinking signs of scene will pop up in possibly very late 2021 like around November or December, but more likely in 2022. TikTok might propel that movement. I don’t see TikTok dying anytime soon. I believe it will be huge in the early and maybe mid 2020s, might start to lose momentum in the mid or late 2020s and be close to dead in the late 2020s or early 2030s. I don’t think scene will be full blown at the earliest 2023 or at the latest Q4 2024. The way the 2020s are panning out eerily reminds me of the 2000s trajectory. Mid 2020s technically begin in May 2023, but probably will not look or feel mid 2020s until the earliest Q3 2023 or at the latest Q4 2024, so we might have another false mid 2020s era. Currently we’re wrapping up the false early 2020s era or 2020 vision era which will end by Q4 2021. In Q4 2021, we’ll get 2020 vision on all the changes leading to the cultural early 2020s. It will feel new and like a different world from 2020 or even Q1 2021. I’m guessing the early 2020s will culturally last from Q4 2021 until at the earliest Q1 2023 or at the latest Q1 2024. If Joe Biden loses reelection in 2024, then I might consider 2024 a part of the early 2020s and mid 2020s doesn’t exist. I’m imagining the early 2020s having strong residue or influence that’ll be hard to shake off immediately kind of like the early 2000s. I predict around 2023 or 2024, we’ll get another wave of 2006 sounding with a 2020s scene or pop punk twist, Timbaland, Nelly and JT type music or crunk might see a resurgence due to 2000s nostalgia. 50 Cent’s Get Rich & Die Tryin will be 20 years old in 2023. I could definitely see Pop Smoke doing something related to Get Rich or Die Tryin' in 2023 if he hadn't gone so soon (RIP.) He was like 50 Cent's protege and gave NYC hip hop a good name after 6ix9ine dragged it through the mud in 2017-18. So sad man, what a fucking loss for the new hip hop scene as a whole that was. As for Timbaland, I'd love to see that happen! Tyler, the Creator kinda brought the Neptunes' sound back in the late 2010s, so Timbaland's sound making a revival in the early/mid 2020s is definitely a possibility.

RIP Pop Smoke. Damn he died at only 20 years old, barely removed from his teens. Pop Smoke could've turned 21 that summer. He died so young. Pop Smoke had his whole life ahead of him. It's strange how he dies before COVID is declared a national state of emergency, before masks, social distancing, quarantine and Zoom explodes. I can see why you say hip hop starts going in an early 2020s direction in 2019. It's thanks to him. He propelled that movement. That probably brought life to the hip hop scene, definitely new. I can also see that too as 50 Cent mentored him. 2017-2018 (peak late 2010s) are the dark ages of music in the 2010s. I hate 2017 more than I do 2018. 2019 is better than both of those years.

I'm sorry I forgot to respond to this part of your post or accidentally deleted it when responding. I can definitely hear the early 2000s Neptunes influence in Tyler, the Creator's music. I listened to Kelis 2003 R&B song, "Suga Honey Iced Tea," last year on YouTube. I saw comments on how that track could've been easily produced by Tyler or it can fit in with his music. I'd also love to see the Timbaland revival happen, of course with a unique 2020s twist. I'm waiting for futuristic sounds like that to creep into music, at least in R&B/soul and hip-hop/rap music, if not rock. Snap however should stay buried in the 2000s imo.

No. Bedroom pop and Billie Eilish are still too big. Olivia Rodriguez as well.
I do think or at least hope music starts to move forward over the next few years. I think the lack of concerts and nightlife have really contributed to this era of musical stagnation.
