Windows 8 is not mid 2010s. You guys are thinking of Windows 10 which came out in 2015. Windows 8 came out in 2012, which is early 2010s. iOS 7 is BARELY mid 2010s. You can argue it's early 2010s as well since it came out in 2013. Yeah, no. iOS 7 is absolutely mid 2010s. Early 2010s would be iOS 4 to 6 which have a skeuomorphic UI. 2012 might be the early 2010s, but Windows 8 was a sign of mid 2010s culture in 2012, much the same way Instagram and PewDiePie becoming popular was. Conversely, Windows 10 was a sign of late 2010s culture in 2015, since it came out after the era had peaked calendar-wise which was January 1st, 2015. Windows 7 was the OS of the early 2010s, plain and simple. Maybe because I was very into the release of the OS and even before the release I was tracking it Windows 8 feels more early 2010s to me and Windows 10 feels more mid 2010s for the same reason along with IOS 7 feeling kind of like the early 2010s. I understand for a person who doesn't care that much about that feels differently.

I understand for a person who doesn't care that much about that feels differently. It’s not that. I myself am interested in tech and computing and whatnot but at the end of the day, it’s about when it was released and when it was popular. I happened to use Windows 8 on my laptop during the mid-2010s, so I’ll always associate it with that timeframe. Of course, Windows 7 was still popular during the mid 2010s, especially due to Windows 8’s poor reception. Likewise, Windows Vista might be what I most strongly associate with the late 2000s, but XP was still by far the most popular operating system of that era. Speaking of Windows XP, even though it might be an early 00s OS, it was even more ubiquitous in the mid 2000s, since some people were still using Windows 98 and 2000 in the early 00s. That’s just how I see it and I respect your opinion.

Windows 8 was released in 2012, which was the early 2010s. I was looking into leaked renders of it as early as 2011. So that's probably why I see it more as an early 20s trend, NOT a mid '10s trend.

It never occurred to me but my fashion sense is pretty much the POLAR opposite of a hipster. No facial hair, long hair, flannel overalls, shirts in colors like pink, green, and red. I never wear a hat either.
