We always talk about core parts of decades, basically where the decade's zeitgeist is strongest, but I think we can actually come up with a different term, to refer to parts of decades that have the most minimal influence from preceding and following decades. I call this the "pure" part of decades. So, how long did the pure 2000s last? In my opinion, it lasted from the ending of Friends and Klasky-Csupo shows (e.g. Rugrats) in mid-2004, to the announcement of the iPhone in January 2007. This era is when many quintessential 2000s technologies such as MP3 players, Windows XP, MySpace, torrenting software, AOL and MSN Messenger, and DVDs were all at their peak in popularity. It's also the era where almost every popular TV show, movie, and music artist is squarely 2000s and not also associated with either the 90s or 2010s. For TV, think LOST, 24, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Pimp My Ride, the OC. For movies, think Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, Pixar and Dreamworks at their absolute peak. For music, think 50 Cent, emo bands like My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy, and Nickelback. When do you think the pure 2000s lasted?

Also a BIG part is straight after Spider-Man 2007 released, everyone was talking about Emo Tobey, and Emo aesthetics pretty much lost the war with Scene and was not heard of again until 2020 in the main stream. Emo was the glue that held the purest 2000s energy together.

Pure 2000s (I like saying Core 2000s) in its totality was from the Fall of 2003 to the Summer of 2008 (or 2009, depending on the person).
In its purest form was like Summer or Fall 2004 to Summer of 2007 (or 2008 but then again, I can see an argument for 2007-2008 being somewhat electropop to an extent and having potential 10s influence, absolutely no earlier than that though). My entire preschool years (October 2004 to June 2007) was as 2000s as you can possibly get.

Afterwards, it started decreasing and competing with scene from like 2007-2008 to 2009-2010. I'd say by 2010-2011, scene totally replaced it.

I could say August or September 2004 to May or June 2007 was the purest the 2000s got. Another reason why the pure 2000s started to wane in mid 2007 (in the wrestling sense) was Chris Benoit's double-murder suicide that truly changed the WWE forever and was a huge reason it became PG, as well as wrestling's reputation being tarnished. And the Ruthless Aggression era started to gradually die out then imo.

I would say the Pure 2000s started in May 2004 (The released of Mean Girls) through 1st Half 2007 (Pre-IPhone released).

2004 to 2007 sounds about right if we're talking about there being very minimal influence from the surrounding decades. For core 00s I would say somewhere in 2004 - Q4 2008.

And the Ruthless Aggression era started to gradually die out then imo. I was just going to mention this, The Benoit murder suicides killed Wrestling ( aside from Wrestlemania 24) until 2010 pretty much. That was on the news 24/7, Wrestling lost all the popularity it had left during that time frame. Tech it was still Ruthless Aggression in 2007 but WWE started lighting the crowd on Raw like they did in 2008, You saw like the HD PG aesthetics in late December 07/Early Jan already come into play even before they replaced the stages

For core 00s I would say somewhere in 2004 - Q4 2008. 2003 is definitely core 2000s. Especially with the Iraq War, 50 Cent, Windows XP becoming the #1 version of Windows, the premiere of shows like the OC, and the start of the McBling era.
